Billa ends its discount stickers: how the 25% coupon works now
Billa is dropping its yellow 25% stickers. Since Thursday, 24 September 2026, the 25% discount at Billa and Billa Plus comes only as a tear-off coupon in the flyer that you hand in at the checkout. The key change: you no longer choose the product — the checkout does, and it takes the most expensive eligible product in your shop. Once you know that, you plan a Billa shop differently.

What changes with the Billa discount stickers (Rabattpickerl)
- Before: sticker from the flyer, stuck by you on a product of your choice.
- Now: tear the barcoded coupon out of the flyer, show it at the checkout, hand it in. The discount is shown on the receipt.
- Which product: automatically the most expensive eligible product in your shop.
- How many: according to reports, up to four coupons per shop — three for a broader range, one for a specific brand.
- First redemption window: 24 to 30 September 2026.
- No reuse: the coupon stays at the checkout. Some shoppers had peeled used stickers off and used them again — that no longer works. A Billa spokesperson told Der Standard: “It's like any other voucher or coupon.”
What it means for your shop: plan around the priciest item
Because the checkout takes the most expensive eligible product, what else is in your basket matters.
Worked example (not real prices): at Billa you buy an eligible product for €12 and one for €4. The coupon takes 25% off the €12 — that's €3. If you had bought only the €4 product, it would be €1.
Three practical consequences:
- Put the expensive item in the Billa shop, not in another store's basket — then the coupon lands where it saves the most.
- Check exclusions before you plan. The clever own brand, prepaid cards, electronics, price-bound goods and the roughly 3,000 items with an Immer-clever-Preis don't count. The coupon can't be combined with 1+1 offers, Extrem-Aktionen or loyalty promotions. So an excluded expensive item won't “catch” the discount.
- Compare the final price, not the percentage. 25% off Billa's shelf price is not automatically cheaper than the deal price at Hofer, Lidl or Spar the same week.
